Owner
Sean Newbold
Sean Newbold is a seasoned leader and visionary in the aquatic construction and systems industry, serving as President and owner of PICS.
Raised in California and originally from Canada, Sean brings over 35 years of experience in the pool and spa industry to PICS. Under his guidance, PICS has built a reputation for designing and constructing high-end commercial and residential aquatic environments across Hawaiʻi.
His role extends beyond managing day-to-day operations: Sean is deeply involved in project design, technical systems integration, and ensuring top-tier construction quality and client satisfaction. He has overseen complex resort-scale water features, combining structural engineering, plumbing, automation systems, and architectural aesthetics.
Under Sean’s leadership, PICS, Inc. (also known as Pool Instruments & Controls Service) offers a full scope of services: pool and spa design & construction, installation of instruments and control systems, chemical/sanitation systems, and servicing/maintenance. In every project, Sean emphasizes a blend of artistry, technical precision, and durable engineering, cultivating a company culture that values innovation, collaboration, and respect for the unique challenges of island-based construction and logistics.
Vice President of Operations
Loida Levinthol
Loida Levinthol is the Vice President of Operations and has been with PICS for over 13 years. She oversees the company’s operational functions, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. She is passionate about creating beautiful watershapes and aquatic environments, blending precision and aesthetics in every project.
Her long tenure at PICS showcases her deep knowledge of the trade, from managing supply chains and equipment logistics to supervising construction workflows and coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and design teams.
Because she is local to Kauaʻi, Loida brings both understanding of the unique logistical challenges of island construction and the cultural and environmental sensitivities that inform how aquatic environments are designed and built in the islands. Water Shapes
